Waiting for numbers...
When it comes to commenting on the attendance for the inaugural Tour of Missouri, some things are simply worth the wait.
In fact, as reported by the Springfield News-Leader, that's exactly what Peter is doing:
Although Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder has said he supports the return of the Tour of Missouri, he’s not yet commenting on how many people watched the inaugural professional cycling race.
That’s because Kinder and Gov. Matt Blunt are waiting for two University of Missouri professors to finish tallying attendance at the race, Kinder spokesman Barry Bennett said.
The report should be in by next week, he said.
It’s likely Blunt and Kinder will make a joint announcement when the information is available on how many people watched the Sept. 11-16 race that included a stop in Springfield, Bennett said.
The Missouri Highway Patrol estimated the race drew 265,000 spectators, but patrol spokesman Capt. Tim Hull said the tally likely was “pretty conservative.”
Indeed, we're all looking forward to that report.
