Delivering Positive Change

Job Creation and Economic Development
Sales Tax Holiday
Kinder championed approval for legislation establishing a sales-tax holiday in Missouri. His legislation gave Missourians the sales tax holiday to assist families in buying clothes and supplies for school. His innovative tax relief not only helped families, but also helped Missouri's economy by increasing retail sales.
Reducing Taxes and Creating Jobs
Peter Kinder has led the effort in his career to create new jobs and keep taxes low for Missourians. He led the fight in the State Senate to save thousands of jobs at Hazelwood Ford, the Noranda Aluminum Plant, the Holcim plant, to pass the Missouri Downtown Economic Stimulus Act and legislation promoting rural economic development. He forcefully opposed the takeover of Anheuser Busch by a Belgian company and now that the purchase is happening he will fight to ensure the jobs stay in Missouri and that the beer continues to be brewed in St. Louis. He has passed egislation to reinvest tens of millions of dollars to reinvigorate our largest cities and our most rural communities.
His top priorities will be to create new high paying jobs and improve the economy by keeping taxes low, to reduce burdensome regulations and to reduce frivolous lawsuits that drive businesses from Missouri.
Promotion of Tourism
Peter Kinder serves as the Chairman of the Tourism Commission. Under his watch, Missouri's tourism has expanded greatly, adding 500 million dollars a year to the state's economy. He also spearheaded the successful effort to bring the Tour of Missouri bicycle race, which was the largest sporting event in Missouri's history. This helped the economy and brought international attention to our state.
